The leaders of the NATO members at the Alliance summit in Brussels approved the Four Twenth initiative, which involves the allocation of 30 mechanized battalions, 30 warships and 30 aviation squadrons, which, if necessary, unfold within 30 days. According to RBC, the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg reported this at a press conference following the results of the first day of the summit.

It is planned to implement the initiative by 2020.

The Deputy General Escap of the Alliance Rose Gethemyuller explained that the forces can be pulled out of all NATO members to support the alliance troops in Poland and the Baltic states. In 2016, it was decided to create in each of these countries one international battalion. However, the total number of these battalions is only 4 thousand military, so in the event of a serious threat they will not be able to restrain the attack of the enemy.

The initiative does not imply the formation of new divisions, the hetemuuller added, - the troops that should be involved in the implementation of the initiative already exist. On an ongoing basis, it is not planned to place them in Poland and the Baltic countries.

The structure of two new team centers was also agreed, the decision to create which was made at the February meeting of the defense ministers of the Sanizer countries. The first command with the headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, will protect the sea routes between North America and Europe. The second, logistics, will be responsible for the quick transfer of troops and weapons of the alliance in Europe. It will be located in the German city of Ulm, the land of Baden-Württemberg.

Alliance aviation will increase mobility. It is assumed that they will receive from the European organization for air navigation safety (Euro control) their own call sign, as well as priority in the management of flights in Europe both in crisis and in peacetime.

The Heethemyuller also said that NATO would carefully observe the meeting of US President Donald Trump with Vladimir Putin , scheduled for July 16 in Helsinki. “We hope at this summit to give President Trump a very good parting word so that he can pass convincing signals in support of NATO and about the power and unity of the alliance,” said the deputy agent's alliance.

At the same time, both Stoltenberg and hetemunil were assured in the interest of NATO in direct dialogue with Russia at the highest level.
