The Kuibyshev court of St. Petersburg found pediatrician Irina Strashinskaya guilty of the death of her child, whom she tried to cure of diabetes with the help of alternative medicine.
The court appointed her ten months of corrective labor. The verdict was passed under the article “causing death by negligence” (109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the press service of the St. Petersburg courts, on January 10, 2018, Irina Strashinskaya took her son to Yaroslavl for treatment “with the help of non-traditional methods of oriental medicine, through massage and breathing exercises.”
She stopped giving the child the insulin injections prescribed by the doctors. Three days later, he died due to developed absolute insulin deficiency, according to a press release.
Strashinskaya is a person with no criminal record, has two minor children, both during the preliminary investigation and in the court session, she fully admitted her guilt, repented of her deed, apologized to the victim, who did not insist on the appointment of Strashinskaya with a strict punishment.
