Eight black rhinos have died in Kenya. This species is on the verge of extinction

In Kenya, eight black rhinos have died after being transported to East Tsavo National Park.

A total of 14 animals were transported. They previously lived in Nairobi National Park and Lake Nakuru National Park. They were going to create safer and more comfortable living conditions.

A preliminary investigation showed that the rhinos died from salt poisoning in their drinking water. The water in East Tsavo Park turned out to be saltier than in the previous habitats of animals.

• Black rhinos are on the verge of extinction. There are about five and a half thousand individuals in the world, they all live in Africa. About 750 representatives of the species live in Kenya. The main threat to rhinos is poachers.
