The Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced six alleged members of the Muslim organization Tablighi Jamaat to terms of up to two and a half years. This is reported by "Frontiers. RU".
All the convicts were found guilty of participating in the activities of an extremist organization (part 2 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).
Ali Azhiev, Maksat Berdikulov, Ali Zulushev, Zhyldyzbek Ismailov and Kunan Turdimatov were sentenced to two years in a penal colony. Earlier, they pleaded guilty and received minimal terms, although Berdikulov and Turdimatov were involved in the case as amirs, that is, as leaders of the cell. Yakubzhan Murakhmedov, who declared his innocence, was sentenced to two and a half years of general regime.
Earlier, the prosecutor requested three and a half years in a penal colony for Berdikulov and Murakhmedov, and three years for the rest of the defendants.
According to the investigation, from April 22 to June 24, 2017, the defendants in the case gathered in a rented apartment and participated in the study of the writings of the Tablighi Jamaat ideologists. According to investigators, members of the organization also developed "measures of secrecy and counteraction to law enforcement and regulatory authorities." Yakubzhan Murakhmedov stated that he was in the apartment for only two days for treatment. Because of his non-pleasure, the court denied the motions of the other defendants to hold special proceedings.
The case came to court in early April, but its consideration was postponed several times. The trial took the judge only one day. The only witness who appeared in the case was classified - in the materials he appears under the pseudonym "Ivanov". It is noted that the verdict to the defendants was announced with the passage of half of the pages and without an interpreter.
