The Presnensky Court of Moscow sentenced Andrei Popov, who calls himself "God Kuzey", to five years in prison.
Popov was found guilty of creating a religious organization whose activities are fraught with violence, and of fraud as part of an organized group on an especially large scale.
From the persons involved in the organization, for the satisfaction of their own needs, "god Kuzya" collected contributions - from 100 to 500 rubles, follows from the verdict. The court also found that the defendants, under the pretext of performing religious rites, acquiring religious paraphernalia, prayers, literature, cult objects and building a temple, stole citizens' funds in the total amount of 7 million 385 thousand rubles.
