The court rejected the claim of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg against a member of the Public Monitoring Committee and the newspaper due to an article about bullying

The Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg denied the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Central District in a lawsuit against the newspaper My District and Yana Teplitskaya, a member of the Public Monitoring Commission, from an article about abuse of a pregnant woman in police department No. 78. Teplitskaya herself told OVD-Info about this.

“In June 2017, at the Migrant Detention Center in St. Petersburg, a woman was welcomed to the fact that she was bullied in department No. 78. They didn’t call an ambulance, they didn’t feed her, they used force. We wrote an appeal from her words and spoke about it publicly,” says the human rights activist.

In August, writes "Team 29", the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs filed a lawsuit against "Your District" and Teplitskaya. The police demanded that the information in the article be recognized as untrue. They demanded from the newspaper to remove the publication , from the member of the PMC - to compensate for the damage caused to business reputation in the amount of 50 thousand rubles. In addition, the police asked to recover 8,890 rubles from both defendants for certification of screenshots of the My District website by a notary.

“The police have checked. Employees from the department said they did not bully anyone. As part of the check, the woman was not interviewed, since at that moment she was expelled, and the videos were removed from the department, ”says Yana Teplitskaya.

The girl clarifies that the police are trying to make it impossible to talk about complaints if they have not been prosecuted.
