In Severouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region, due to the collapse of the Kalya River bed, the water in the taps became unsafe to drink, and the authorities organized the delivery of drinking water to several areas. From July 18, citizens can receive two liters of water per hand, and only upon presentation of a passport.

Water will be distributed from 13:00 to 18:00 at seven addresses: on the site near the 7th canteen, near the Kedr service center, near the heating point near the railway station platform, on Mira Square near the Rus cafe, near the N6 store and near the Maria store (33A Lenina Street), as well as on the site near the DOSAAF building.

In addition, water supply is organized in suburban villages: in Third Severny, water will be distributed from 11:00 to 13:00 at the Rovesnik Children and Youth Center, in Kalya - from 14:00 to 16:00 at the site near the Metelitsa store. Residents are asked to bring their own containers. In Cheremukhovo, bottled water will be distributed from 13:00 to 18:00; the delivery point is located at the management company “Our House”.

One person can receive water for the whole family if there are corresponding notes about relatives in the passport, the mayor's office notes, but only once a day.

Local residents on the social network VKontakte express their indignation at the amount of water being distributed. “2 liters, especially for children and disabled people, cool, taken care of, thank you”, “I have a 2 liter kettle at home, do I need to stand in line so that I can boil the kettle once?” - Internet users complain. Some complain that they do not have their own containers.

“The trucks with water never came to Severouralsk.... And the people are still waiting,” says another post in the group “Overheard Severouralsk” .

“For technical reasons, the supply of water to the city was disrupted. We apologize. We urge you to remain calm. Water will be supplied. The new time for water supply will be announced additionally,” the mayor’s office says on its website. Later, an announcement appeared that the machine was already being shipped and that water would soon arrive at the specified distribution points.

Meanwhile, fights broke out at one of the water distribution points, as some residents had been standing in line for several hours in the heat, and they had brought fewer bottles than planned, Znak.com reports. In addition, bottled water has almost completely disappeared from stores - retail chains are gradually bringing it in, but city residents are quickly buying it up.

The information policy department of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region told Znak.com that water is supplied to houses in the city district in full, but so far it does not meet SanPIN standards and can only be used for household needs. According to the mayor's office of Severouralsk, the water color index on the morning of July 18 is 31.3, with the norm being 1.5, the water turbidity is 29, with the norm being 20.

On the evening of July 18, the administration is scheduled to hold a regular meeting of the emergency commission, where it will report on the progress of repair work and water characteristics. The mayor's office hopes that tomorrow citizens will be able to use tap water. “The enterprise on whose territory the collapse occurred took upon itself to eliminate the accident within three days - until July 19,” the city administration said.

The failure in the Kalya River canal occurred on July 16; restoration work is being carried out at the accident site around the clock, according to the website of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sverdlovsk Region. In total, 78 people and 24 pieces of equipment are involved in eliminating the consequences of the emergency and ensuring the livelihoods of the population. The department continues to operate an operational headquarters to eliminate the consequences of the incident.
