July 19. "United Russia" against all: the retirement age will be increased

Probably, on July 19, many interesting events took place, but one was much more important than everyone else: the deputies adopted a bill on raising the retirement age. So today's "Evening Medusa" will be completely devoted to this.

How the bill was adopted

With a battle , although useless. The State Duma had a spontaneous rally, which was attended by deputies from the Communist Party (rally in the center of Moscow! Deputies! They do not disperse anyone!). In the very building of the parliament, representatives of Fair Russia, the same Communist Party and LDPR made fiery speeches (sometimes, however, completely out of pensions), and in United Russia and the government they were calmly answered that there were no alternatives to increase pensions. In the end, the majority of United Russia has a majority in the State Duma - and this party can solve everything alone. So she did:

The only representative of United Russia who voted against raising the retirement age is Natalya Poklonskaya (eight more people did not come to the meeting at all: apparently, they were ashamed). The party has already promised to think about how to punish Poklonskaya.

How all this was illuminated by the media

Strange. Russian news agencies (as well as some news sites) in the headings so carefully avoided the words “raising the retirement age” and “pension reform”, which this looked literally mockery . TV channels are no better: they put in the news releases the plot about the State Duma Third/Fourth. The general mood is this : nothing has yet been resolved, this is only the beginning, and in general “everyone agrees” that pensions must be raised.

Naturally, with such lighting from the media, a lot of jokes appeared on the Internet.

What will happen now

The bill will follow the authorities - the second reading, the third, the Federation Council, then the signature of the president (do not believe the meme that he cannot but sign the law is complete nonsense ). Judging by how the retirement age was discussed, maybe some concessions from the government are waiting for us, but the bill is unlikely to change in the main one.
