In Severouralsk, the fourth day is not drinking water. The authorities do not see a reason for panic

In Severouralsk (Sverdlovsk region) there is no drinking water since July 16. On this day, on the territory of the buxite mine, the Kalya river washed the concrete channel . Water went into the soil and hit the underground sources that feed the water intake. As a result, the water that comes to the inhabitants of the city has become unsuitable for drinking. According to one of the main characteristics - color - indicators exceeded the norm by 16 times. There is another water intake in Severouralsk - on the Vagran River - but they try not to use it at all . The river is polluted because a gold mining company operates in its upper reaches.

Water in Severouralsk began to be given through passports. Local authorities set the limit - two liters per person per day. To get them, I had to stand in lines for several hours . But even under such conditions, not everyone was enough. The Monetka retail chain, from which the local administration bought water, was supposed to provide about 40 thousand liters on July 18, and issued only 540 five -liter bottles. The network referred to the fact that the payment of the goods did not pass. In stores, water prices rose two to three times .

The verification of documents during the distribution of water was explained by “strict reporting”: local authorities must provide lists of people who received water in order to report for the expenditure of 250 thousand rubles allocated for its purchase. On July 19, it was announced that all restrictions were removed: water can be obtained without a passport and in an unlimited volume.

The authorities said that "there are no reasons for panic." The head of the city administration Vasily Matyushenko and the director of Vodokanal Aman Karasaev, according to Znak.com, decided not to interrupt their vacation. Deputy Matyushenko Vladimir Pasler recorded a video message in which he assured that the situation is under control. At the same time, the administration noted that hot water from the tap can also be drunk, since it "is fully consistent with all the norms and is suitable for eating after boiling."

There will be no water in Severouralsk for a few more days. At first, repair work was promised to finish on the evening of July 19, then the deadline was postponed for a day. But even after their completion, the water will not immediately become suitable for drinking: for three days it will be disinfected with increased doses of chlorine. The Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region proposed to vaccinate residents of Severouralsk against hepatitis A and rotavirus infection.
