In Kostroma, an arrested Navalny supporter went on a hunger strike in support of political prisoners

In Kostroma, Alexander Zykov, a supporter of politician Alexei Navalny, went on a dry hunger strike demanding the release of political prisoners: former policeman Ruslan Rakhaev, activist Mikhail Tsakunov and Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov. This was reported on Facebook Zykov.

The activist himself has been under arrest since July 18. He was found guilty of evading compulsory work (part 4 of article 20.25 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), which was assigned to him for participating in the “Voters' Strike” on January 28.

Former police officer Ruslan Rakhaev was sentenced to nine years in prison in a strict regime colony. He was accused of exceeding official powers and intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, resulting in the death of a person. The defense believes that the detainee Dahir Dzhankezov was beaten before he got to the defendant.

Mikhail Tsakunov, a participant in the action “He is not our king” on May 5, was accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of violence dangerous to life or health against a representative of authority). According to investigators, Tsakunov knocked out a tooth of a policeman. He was arrested on the day of the action and has been in custody ever since.

Oleg Sentsov was sentenced in Russia to 20 years on charges of plotting terrorist attacks in Crimea. Since May 14, the director has been on a hunger strike, demanding that the Russian authorities release all Ukrainian political prisoners. He does not include himself among them. According to the lawyer, Sentsov had a second “health crisis” two weeks ago.
