Bears often refused, referring to employment

Margaret Thatcher, the Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1979 to 1990, had several plush bears, she appeared with them in public. As it turned out from the documents published on July 21, Margaret Thatcher Foundation, sometimes these bears wrote letters with requests to take part in a particular charitable event.

So, in April 1988, Thatcher received a letter from the Society of Young Diabetics of Redbridge. The organization reminded that four years ago, a plush bear named Hemfrey had already attended their event, and invited him again. “We will take care of Hemfrey; Children are sure that he will like to be in the spotlight, ”the letter said .

The response to the Society of Young Diabetics Redbridge was written by an official with Dauning Street named Perry Miller. “Unfortunately, he [Hemfrey] will not be able to join you, because he already has plans for this day. I'm sorry to give you a negative answer. Miss Thatcher sincerely wishes you a happy and successful day, ”Miller wrote.

“Unfortunately, they [bears] will not be able to join you because they have other obligations this month,” Miller answered another letter.

Sometimes the bears nevertheless accepted invitations. “Thank you very much for returning Hemfrey,” Tatcher herself wrote in September 1981. “I am sure that he had a good time in Longlite .”

Among other documents published by Margaret Thatcher Foundation, there is a record about the favorite things of the Prime Minister. It follows from it that Tatcher's favorite color was turquoise, with a drink - whiskey with soda, and sweetness - chocolate.
