Ex-Governor of the Altai Territory was nominated to senators

The acting of the Altai Governor Viktor Tomenko proposed to nominate the ex-head of the region Alexander Karllin to the Federation Council. The decision has been expected from the moment of the resignation of Karllin.

Tomenko passed the signatures of municipal deputies for registration in the election of the governor on July 27. He also officially introduced his candidates for the Council of People's Commissars.

Tomenko nominated ex-governor Alexander Karllin, the current member of the Federation Council Mikhail Shchetinin and the acting first deputy prime minister of the region Alexander Lukyanov.

“Today I presented information about the deputies who put their signatures in support of my candidacy. About 1.5 thousand people transferred their signatures to my support, but the legislation allows only 560 signatures, ”Tomenko said (Interfax quote ).

The nomination of Karllin to the Council was discussed from the moment of his resignation in May.

Alexander Karlin was born in 1951 in the Altai Territory. He graduated from the Sverdlovsk Law Institute, worked in the prosecution authorities and the Ministry of Justice. In 2004-2005 - Head of the Directorate of the Presidential Administration on Public Service.

After the death of the Altai governor Mikhail Evdokimov, in 2005, he was offered Vladimir Putin as the head of the region. Four years later, the Legislative Assembly extended the authority of the official. In 2014, he won the election, gaining more than 72% of the vote.

In 2018, in the March elections of the President of Russia, the Altai Territory gave one of the best results to the communist Pavel Grudinin. Vladimir Putin scored about 64% of the vote in the region.

The election of the governor will be held on September 9. In addition to Tomenko, the documents were submitted by Vladimir Semenov (LDPR), Andrei Krylov (Growth Party), Viktor Rau (Yabloko), Lyudmila Suslova (“Fair Russia”) and Sergey Suspevsky (Party of Small Business).
