The introduction of a recycling fee on bicycles turned out to be no joke. The government is really working on this issue.

• As the RIA Novosti agency was told in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, now they are studying possible options for introducing a fee. Officials of the department are going to discuss the final versions with the Ministry of Natural Resources.
• On Friday, the Izvestia newspaper reported that the introduction of a recycling fee on bicycles was discussed at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak on June 27. As a result of the meeting, it was decided that the Ministry of Industry and Trade would answer the question about the need for such a fee by October 1.
• Now the recycling fee is levied on cars, both imported and domestic. In the first case, it is paid by the owner of the vehicle, in the second - by the manufacturer, who can then receive compensation from the budget. If the fee is not paid, then the car cannot be registered.

According to the calculations of the head of the National Association for the Development of the Bicycle Industry Pavel Shmidov, the recycling fee can be up to 10% of the cost of a bicycle on the counter. Russian manufacturers can be compensated for such a fee, but foreign products will definitely rise in price.
