A rally against pension reform, which passed the day before , collected, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 6.5 thousand people. It was organized by left -handed forces. On Saturday and Sunday, traffic in the Sakharov Avenue area is limited in connection with rallies against changes in the pension system.
On July 19, the State Duma adopted in the first reading the bill on amendments to the pension system proposed by the government, which suggests, in particular, an increase in retirement age up to 65 years for men and up to 63 years for women. A large -scale discussion of the initiative continues, proposals for finalizing the draft law will be collected and recorded in the form of amendments to the second reading, which will be held in the fall.
As planned by the authorities, for men, the increase will stretch for 10 years and will end in 2028, for women the transition period will be 15 years and will end by 2034. According to the document, the reform will begin in January 2019. By the end of its term, the retirement age for men will be set at 65 years, and for women - 63 years. Currently, the age of retirement for men is 60 years, for women - 55 years.
The decision caused criticism in society. After the announcement of plans to increase the retirement age, protests began.
Opponents of pension reform, in particular, are afraid that, taking into account the current statistics of life expectancy, increasing the retirement age will lead to the fact that many Russians simply will not survive until retirement. In addition, the unemployment rate will increase, since the growing number of employees must still be provided with jobs. And this despite the fact that the business is not interested in employing older people who are more likely to be sick, adapted worse for high loads and to master new knowledge and skills.
