
The church ship will go on August 15 from the pier of the Novosibirsk River Station, the press service of the regional government on July 30 said. “The techniques of doctors, specialists of the social protection service, baptism, confession and conversations with priests will be available to rural residents,” the report said.
“The main goal of the action is to provide residents of remote villages of the Novosibirsk region of spiritual, social and material support, strengthening social stability in the region,” the press service added. “In 2018, meetings of the participants of the Church ship with residents of 47 settlements of Iskitim, Suzunsky, Ordynsky and Novosibirsk regions will take place as part of the action.”
30 priests, doctors, social services and pension fund specialists will go on the ship. For rural residents, the techniques of doctors, ultrasound and ECG are organized. “In addition, everyone will be able to accept the sacraments of baptism, participles, confession, individually talked with the priest, invite the priest at the house, receive holy water, acquire spiritual literature,” the government added.
"Ship-Church" has been working for 22 years. According to the authorities, about 100 thousand people were able to chat with ministers of the Russian Orthodox Church, undergo a medical examination and receive consultations of specialists.
The action is carried out by the regional government instead of with the Novosibirsk Metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church with the support of municipalities.
