The Ministry of Economic Development proposed to increase funding for Crimea

The Ministry of Economic Development proposes to extend the federal target program for the development of Crimea and Sevastopol and increase its funding, Minister Maxim Oreshkin said at a government meeting on the socio-economic development of the peninsula.

State program for the development of Crimea for 2015-2020. provides for financing in the amount of 800 billion rubles, of which the federal budget accounts for 790 billion rubles. “ We have prepared proposals to extend it until 2022 with an increase in funding by 37 billion rubles,” Oreshkin said (quotes from Interfax).

“The catastrophic underfunding of Crimea’s infrastructure in the post-Soviet period de facto required the implementation of a comprehensive program to create a new infrastructure framework for the peninsula. The main resources in recent years and now are being directed to the creation of transport, energy, engineering, housing and communal infrastructure,” the minister noted.

According to him, the construction of 214 or a third of the facilities planned under the program has been completed, and about 350 more facilities are at the implementation stage. About 80% of the work is on schedule, and 120 projects are behind schedule, Oreshkin said.
