Two defendants in the “Crimean saboteurs” case were left under arrest

The Sevastopol City Court until November 11 left Vladimir Dudka and Alexei Bessarabov, defendants in the Crimean saboteurs case, in custody. This was reported by the Crimean Human Rights Group.

The trial was held behind closed doors. On August 2, a new trial of the case will begin on charges of Dudka and Bessarabov of preparing "sabotage" on the territory of Crimea. The accused are in SIZO No. 1 in Simferopol.

• Sevastopol residents Vladimir Dudka, Aleksey Bessarabov and Dmitry Shtyblikov were detained in November 2016. They are accused of preparing sabotage by an organized group (part 1 of article 30 and part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code) and of possession of weapons (article 222 part 3; art. 222.1 part 3). Shtyblikov pleaded guilty and entered into an agreement with the investigation to pass a sentence without analyzing the evidence.
• Convicted Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov announced an indefinite hunger strike on May 14, the condition for ending which he set the release of "all Ukrainian political prisoners." Earlier, we published a list of prisoners associated with Ukraine, whose cases are most likely politically motivated. The persons involved in the case of the "Crimean saboteurs" (only 8 people) are included in this list.
