Convicted Maidan participant Alexander Kostenko was released

Ukrainian Oleksandr Kostenko, convicted on charges of causing harm to a Berkut fighter on the Maidan in Kyiv, was released from penal colony No. 5 in Kirovo-Chepetsk. About this writes "7 × 7" with reference to the human rights activist Artur Abashev.

Abashev told the publication that he, along with the Ukrainian consul in Russia, Gennady Breskalenko, met Kostenko from the colony. According to the publication, Kostenko spent the last month of his imprisonment in a punishment cell and a cell-type room (“inner prison” in the colony). He was sent there due to penalties from the administration of the colony.

Abashev also told 7×7 that employees of IK No. 5 talked to Kostenko every day and tried to find out who would meet him and what routes they would take.

According to the human rights activist, Kostenko is afraid that drugs might be planted on him. “From his words, I understood that he was told that he would already have a previous conviction, not a single court would acquit him if they found something with him,” Abashev quoted the publication as commenting.

Kostenko spent three and a half years in IK No. 5.
