In Ingushetia, volunteers will restore a medieval tower complex

Volunteers began to restore the medieval tower complex “Erzi” in the Dzheirakhsky district of Ingushetia, TASS reports .

This is part of a volunteer project involving 120 people from 18 regions. During the first week, 15 young people will carry out restoration work in the Erzi complex. At the next stage, volunteers will organize environmental actions on the Volga.

The volunteer project “Beacons of Friendship - Towers of the Caucasus” started in 2016. Students are working on the restoration of Caucasian historical monuments. Last year, volunteers worked in abandoned ancient villages in Dagestan, Chechnya, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, North Ossetia, Adygea and South Ossetia.

Ingush towers are monuments of medieval architecture, representing monumental residential, defensive, signal, guard and observation stone structures. The Erzi State Nature Reserve is home to one of the largest tower complexes in Ingushetia, which includes eight combat, two semi-combat and 47 residential towers with stone defensive walls.
