The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, visited the village of Geldagan, where a farewell ceremony is being held for Yusup Temerkhanov, convicted for the murder of Colonel Yuri Budanov, and expressed his condolences to his family. He announced this on social media.
According to Kadyrov, Temerkhanov, who pleaded not guilty, became the victim of a miscarriage of justice, but the verdict made him, in the eyes of Chechens and residents of other regions, “a hero who avenged the desecrated honor and imprisonment of a Chechen girl, Russian citizen Elza Kungayeva,” who was killed by Budanov.
“So he will forever remain in the memory of the people, even if over time the verdict is recognized as erroneous!” Kadyrov wrote.
