Russian gymnasts won the team competition at the European Championships

The Russian women's team in artistic gymnastics won gold in the finals of the team tournament as part of the unified European Championship in summer Olympic sports. Competitions were held in the Scottish city of Glasgow.

During the competition, gymnasts Lilia Akhaimova, Angelina Melnikova, Irina Alekseeva, Uliana Perebinosova and Angelina Simakova scored 165.195 points in total. The second place was taken by the French gymnasts with a score of 161.131, the third by the Dutch gymnasts with 159.563 points.

Melnikova told TASS that the team tournament at the European Championships is the main one. “Here you have no room for error at all. Yes, and the format was difficult, it influenced psychologically, because it is difficult to get together when you know that you can’t make mistakes, ”she said.

The first unified European Championship in Summer Olympic sports takes place in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Berlin from 2 to 12 August. Earlier, Russia won five gold medals during the competition: one each in swimming, track cycling team sprint and rowing, as well as two in synchronized swimming.
