The Ambassador of Russia in London accused Britain of "strangling" of the Russian diplomatic mission

The Ambassador of Russia to London, Alexander Yakovenko, in an interview with Russia-24, accused the British authorities of "strangling" of the Russian diplomatic mission.

According to Yakovenko, London blocks the update of the mission. “Diplomats cannot receive British visas, the average waiting period is a year and a half. It is absolutely abnormal, this is not in any country in the world. The British government simply blocks the renewal of the composition of the diplomatic mission,” the diplomat emphasized. As a result, according to Yakovenko, the mission "strangled, because people are sent - some of the people simply naturally completes their business trip."

Employees of the embassy "cannot work forever," and "there are no one to replace these people," said Yakovenko.

The British authorities sent 23 Russian diplomats from the country in connection with the poisoning of ex-colonel GRU Sergei Skripal. In the solidarity of Russian diplomatic agents, the United States and most European countries sent. Moscow resorted to a return expulsion.

On August 1, the British Consulate General in St. Petersburg closed at the request of the Russian authorities.
