Architecture: Building-Most in Faroe Islands

Physically and symbolically connects two previously separate municipalities.

The building on the Faroe Islands designed by the Scandinavian company Henning Larsen and is built in such a way that it is as if crossing the river. Inside the unusual building, the administration of the municipality of the Extura is located, but it can also be used as a regular bridge - a pedestrian path is laid along the roof.

The building has several working premises and a meeting room with a view of the water.

The design of the building was engaged in Esbjern Jacobsen, who had previously worked on a conference center in the Icelandic Reykjavik. According to the architect, he did not want to imitate the ancient buildings found on the islands, but planned to rethink their idea.

The central theme in traditional Faroe architecture is a blurry line between nature and the building, so it is not easy for the viewer to understand where the landscape ends and construction begins.

I believe that this can be one of the ways to approach modern Faroe architecture.
