Rosneft will withdraw its lawsuit against Interfax after the agency apologized for publishing about thefts at the Far Eastern Zvezda plant, owned by the oil company, Rosneftegaz and Gazprombank, according to the Rosneft website.
According to the company, Interfax conducted an internal audit and found that when preparing the material, the editors committed a “violation of the information standard.” In particular, the agency’s correspondent did not contact the press service of Zvezda and Rosneft for comment, “thus depriving the companies of the opportunity to quickly express their position.”
As a result, the agency independently corrected the violation and apologized to the plant management and the oil company.
“The measures taken by Interfax were considered exhaustive, and the apology was accepted. DVZ "Zvezda" believes that there are no grounds for further litigation and will take steps to withdraw the lawsuit," the company said in a statement.
In July , it became known that the Rosneft shipyard filed a lawsuit against Interfax due to a “gross distortion of reality” in the agency’s material about theft at Zvezda in the amount of more than 7.5 billion rubles. Zvezda emphasized that the violations were discovered more than four years ago, when the shipyard did not belong to the real owners, and the published information harms the company’s business reputation.
