Shestun, together with close relatives, owns a fleet of expensive foreign-made cars, the Investigative Committee notes. “It is obvious that the total value of the property owned by the accused and his relatives clearly does not correspond to Shestun’s income as a local government official,” the investigation believes.

Shestun’s wife, Yulia, told Vedomosti that all the family’s property was purchased with legal income. “We sold our old house, in which we had previously lived for 18 years and which Alexander Shestun built while still a major entrepreneur. The old house was not small and had a plot. In 2014, we bought ½ share of a new house with the proceeds. The second half of the house was purchased by Alexander Vyacheslavovich’s mother, who has been involved in entrepreneurial activities for many years,” she explained.

On Tuesday, August 7, the Basmanny Court of Moscow seized Shestun’s property. Interim measures were taken against half of the house and land, a Mercedes car, a bank account and a salary card. On August 8, the court extended Shestun’s detention until November 13.

Shestun was detained on June 13. Searches were carried out in his house and the administration of the Serpukhov district.
