On August 5, the police received a message in the Admiralty district that two young people were climbing the sculpture of the copper horseman, according to the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Law enforcement officers quickly arrived at the place and detained a 20-year-old and 32-year-old hooligans. They made administrative protocols under part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (petty hooliganism). Photos with hooligans and the description of the incident were published on the social network "VKontakte" Internet user Alexander Benzman. According to her, on the night of August 5, "several guys and the girls climbed onto the horseman, but not just to fall off, but to kindle the barbecue." “And the large company stood below and supported the comrades who dragged a bag of coal on the horse’s back, a disassembled barbecue and their carcasses ... Some tourists asked them to solve their problem faster, otherwise they needed to take a picture ... The rest took off and called 112,” said Alexandra.
The incident was commented at the Museum of the City Sculpture of St. Petersburg. “It's hard to believe that it could have occurred to someone to commit such an act,” the museum said on the official page on VKontakte .
