"Miass do not offer": no one wants to be the head of the politically unstable South Ural city

A week after the start of submitting applications for the competition for the choice of the head of the city of Miass of the Chelyabinsk Region, no one applied to the commission. This means that there are no candidates for the post of head of the Miass city district.

“We have another week in order to accept documents from those who wish to participate in the competition. In principle, this is a normal situation, since everyone is waiting for the last. Documents are accepted until August 20 inclusive,” Znak.com told the press service of the meeting of deputies of the city district on August 13.

The publication recalls a joke, which has a walk in the political environment of the Southern Urals, with the lines "I am looking for a job as mayor. Miass is not offered." The city is considered one of the most politically unstable: over the past 10 years, about a dozen leaders have changed in it. Moreover, most of them left their posts with a scandal or were dismissed.

Earlier in 2018, there was already an attempt to choose the head of Miass. The competition was announced after the resignation of Gennady Vaskov, and ten candidates submitted applications. Most of them rejected the commission, leaving two. And on the vote, most deputies ruined the ballots. A new procedure was assigned, the duties of the mayor are temporarily fulfilled by Grigory Tonkhki.

It should be noted that in March 2017, former mayor of Miass Stanislav Tretyakov beats unknown in the courtyard of the city administration. His beating was associated withthe organized crime group "Turbazovskiy" , the representative of which - entrepreneur Vladimir Murashkin - was suspected in the board from behind Gennady Vaskov.
