Udaltsov was arrested for 30 days in connection with a rally where he “destroyed portraits of people resembling members of the government”

The Meshchansky Court of Moscow arrested the leader of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov, for 30 days, Interfax reports.

He was found guilty of repeated violation of the rules for holding mass events.

Udaltsov was detained on the afternoon of August 14. According to him, the police said that on the day of the rally against pension reform in Moscow, he organized another, unsanctioned event, at which he "destroyed portraits of people who looked like members of the Russian government."

• A rally against pension reform was held in Moscow on July 28. It was attended by at least 6.5 thousand people. The action was organized by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and agreed with the Moscow authorities.
