The Ministry of Transport has proposed compensating airlines for fuel costs

The Ministry of Transport proposed that the government and the Ministry of Finance partially compensate airlines for fuel costs in order to prevent an increase in ticket prices.

According to the results of 2018, aviation kerosene may increase in price by 30%, said Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh.

Airline losses due to rising fuel costs are estimated at 50 billion rubles, with 22.5 billion proposed to be compensated, the minister said.

• Airlines, in particular S7 and Aeroflot , had previously complained about rising costs due to rising fuel prices. S7 co-owner Natalia Fileva linked this to a "conspiracy" among Russian oil companies. In her opinion, they began to inflate prices for jet fuel due to a decline in export revenues.
• In June , the Air Transport Operators Association asked Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov to take action against rising fuel prices, warning that otherwise airlines would be forced to raise ticket prices.
