The Ministry of Transport offered the Government and the Ministry of Finance to partially compensate the airlines for additional costs due to the rise in the price of jet fuel - 22.5 billion rubles out of the expected 50 billion losses. The words of the Minister of Transport Yevgeny Dietrich are quoted by TASS

“We expect that the cumulative increase in the cost of jet fuel in 2018 could be up to 30%, which could have a significant impact on the growth in airfare. Therefore, we formulated a proposal - one-time one-time subsidies to airlines to compensate for these costs for jet fuel, ”said Dietrich.

Recall that gasoline prices in Russia jumped in April and May of this year: according to Rosstat, from January to May, gasoline prices increased by an average of 7.3%, which was several times higher than the inflation rate (1.6%) . At the end of May, the government decided to reduce excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel by 3 and 2 thousand rubles. per ton, respectively, and also not to raise excises from July 1.

Analysts of the consulting company Vygon Consulting in early August named free pricing as the main reason for rising prices and suggested that the state engage in price regulation, as is the case in Saudi Arabia. According to their calculations, under the current conditions, the prices for AI-92 gasoline in January 2019 may increase from 40 to 50.5 rubles per liter.
