Putin will attend the wedding of the Austrian Foreign Minister

Russian President Vladimir Putin received an invitation to the wedding of Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl and plans to attend. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

According to Peskov, Putin will “drop by” for the wedding ceremony on his way to Berlin, where he has already scheduled a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Earlier, the Austrian media reported that Putin would come to the diplomat's wedding in Austria. The ceremony will take place in Styria. Kneissl herself has repeatedly advocated forging ties with Russia.

Austria has become one of the few EU countries that have not expelled Russian diplomats because of the case of the poisoning in British Salisbury of former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. The head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry then said that "in difficult times it is necessary to maintain a dialogue."

Kneissl, who is 53 years old, has been in office since December 2017. Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz invited her to the government. She first came to work at the Foreign Ministry in 1990.
