Yuli Boyarshinov, a defendant in the Network case, was brought to a pre-trial detention center in Nizhny Novgorod

On August 13, Yuli Boyarshinov, a defendant in the case of the terrorist community “Network,” was brought to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Nizhny Novgorod along with anti-fascist Viktor Filinkov. Filinkov told local lawyer Alexei Matasov about this.

The third person transferred, Igor Shishkin, was left in pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Yaroslavl. Filinkov added that he does not know how long he and Boyarshinov will stay in Nizhny Novgorod. All three, according to him, are being taken to Penza for investigative actions.

The anti-fascist does not complain about the conditions of detention, but said that rats were running around in the Yaroslavl pre-trial detention center. In Yaroslavl, Filinkov wrote a letter to the local human rights ombudsman, but he thinks that the pre-trial detention center staff did not send him.

In mid-July, it became known that Filinkov and another person involved in the Network case, Yulia Boyarshinov, were going to be transferred to Penza for investigative actions. At the end of the month, the two of them and Igor Shishkin, another accused, were taken from a pre-trial detention center in the Leningrad region to Yaroslavl.

Lawyer Vitaly Cherkasov reported that the first day after being escorted to Yaroslavl, Viktor was kept in the transit department - pigs are also kept in this building. There was an “indescribable stench” there, Cherkasov relayed the words of his client. Filinkov was transferred to a special unit of the pre-trial detention center, where besides him there were four more people. When he demanded that the required two-hour walk be provided, the detention center employee told his cellmate that Filinkov’s glasses should be broken for such demands.

Later, a member of the Public Monitoring Commission of St. Petersburg, Yana Teplitskaya, said that in the Yaroslavl pre-trial detention center, Viktor is not given medications - the administration has “a special instruction “not to take medications for Filinkov.” Victor has serious problems with his liver and stomach; osteochondrosis and psoriasis have worsened.

The young people were taken away from pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Yaroslavl on August 10, as reported in the local branch of the Sitting Russia organization. On August 14, it became known that Filinkov was brought to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Nizhny Novgorod.

• Nine young people in Penza and St. Petersburg are accused in the Network case. According to the FSB, they participated in a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code) and were allegedly preparing for the outbreak of unrest in the country. The defendants in the case spoke about psychological pressure, electric shock torture, hanging upside down and weapons that FSB officers planted on them.
• Anti-fascist Viktor Filinkov was arrested in January. He admitted guilt, but later stated that he did it under torture. Members of the Public Monitoring Commission of St. Petersburg recorded numerous traces of burns from a stun gun on the anti-fascist’s body. Businessman Igor Shishkin is involved in the same case; he did not report torture, but the Public Monitoring Committee also recorded injuries on his body. Another person arrested in St. Petersburg, Yuli Boyarshinov, was in a cell with 115 places, where 150 people are being held. Boyarshinov's lawyer considers the conditions in the cell to be torture.
• One of the witnesses in the case in St. Petersburg, Ilya Kapustin, also spoke about torture. He was forced to leave Russia and asked for political asylum in Finland.
• On July 5, two more defendants in the case were arrested in Penza - Mikhail Kulkov and Maxim Ivankin. They were accused of preparing for the production or sale of drugs on a large scale (clause "d" of Part 4 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code with the use of Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code). Before this, the young people were detained in March 2017 along with anti-fascist Alexei Poltavets and accused of drug possession. According to Poltavets, after their arrest they were tortured and beaten, demanding to testify against their friends from the anti-fascist environment.
