The Moscow City Court upheld the decision to arrest for 30 days the coordinator of the "Left Front" Sergei Udaltsov.
Udaltsov was detained on August 14, he was accused of repeated violations during the rally. On July 28, he participated in a concerted action against the pension reform, but the police said that then he held another, unsanctioned event.
When considering the appeal, the Moscow City Court assessed the video recordings made on July 28 and considered that they prove the fact of an administrative offense. The decision states that even before the start of the agreed-upon action, Udaltsov shouted into a megaphone, and also burned sheets of paper with the image of "persons clearly similar to official representatives of the government of the Russian Federation."
At the meeting, Udaltsova's lawyer argued that the anonymous video recording could not be regarded as evidence. According to the defense , the case against the activist was fabricated in order to exclude him from politics before the single voting day, which will be September 9th.
