Tamara Lyalenkova : The practice of false memories formed the basis of the exposition "then about the future", on which young artists presented their own vision of 2848. Since the project was attended by students of the course "Multimedia art" and "Photography and videoart", the product turned out to be synthetic. And although young people were starting from the text of the story of Edgar Allan on "Mellonta Tauta", an artistic projection, one way or another, reflects their idea of the future.
In the Moscow studio, the curator of the exhibition Svetlana Taylor and students of the British Higher School of Design Alexander Chistov and Alena Trushina .
Tamara Lyalenkova : Question to artists. It seems to you that the period of time you fantasize about? What is easier to imagine and present to the viewer - fifty years later, two hundred, or a thousand, as in the case of Edgar software?
Alexander Chistov : The term is completely unimportant - 800 years, 500 years, if we talk about the future. And, in general, this is an ungrateful thing to do some forecasts. But, since I adhere to libertarian views, I would like to live in the future in which no passport is required, I do not need to cross borders and think that you will be allowed somewhere, but somewhere-no.
Alena Trushina : It all depends largely on how people on the planet behave. If what is happening now, then in 800 years here, maybe in general, there will be no life.
Tamara Lyalenkova : We have the opportunity to see the work about the future that Alexander, Alena and Diana Kaprasova presented at the Vinzavod.

Diana Kapizova about the planet of dreams
Diana Kapirova : Here you are on the planet Giliador. This is such a planet that does not rotate around its axis, so it is divided into several zones - the area of the eternal desert, the tumans zone and the area of eternal night. But Alena Trushina and I settled this planet with animals.
The legend says that Alena and I flew on a starship on this planet and began to study her fauna.
you fly to the planet, but you find nothing
Each zone has cotton panels on which a video about our research is recorded. The planet is notable for the fact that we never met a single animal, but found only their traces. For example, here you see a trace of an animal, bones, tail, skin. A piece of glass is presented on the other table. We assume that the animal that lives in this zone feeds on glass. And this, we believe, is a nest-Nora, some of the animals from the heat hides in it. In this jar, something like gills, we think that the animal breathes them.
Now we go to the area of eternal night, a salt desert. This is a limb, very similar to the hose, there are teeth in it. We assume that they are needed for defense, because there are many predators.
Scientists have always sought and still strive to find life on another planet, and these are our romantic dreams of a possible future. You seem to fly to this planet, but you find nothing, you see only traces. And through these threads you promote the whole story. This is such a fantasy about the future, a reflection of what you dream about, but you cannot find in any way.
"That's about the future", the exhibition of the BVSHD
Tamara Lyalenkova : Svetlana, did you surprise you in such an artistic view of the fantasy of Edgar for?
Svetlana Taylor : I would like to make some kind of clarification - we did not rely directly on the literary text. Edgar Allan, belongs to the generation of late romantics, and I was more interested in his central character - an exalted lady who carries out a transatlantic balloon for 8 days. Rather, it was a conversation about freedom when everyone is free to dream as widely as possible, using the arsenal of art practices, tactics and strategies. And at first we thought to take feelings from the world and process them so that a person was manifested through some sensual side, sensual knowledge of the world. But then everyone created his own measurement of the future.
Tamara Lyalenkova : Three artists built an almost whole planet. Have you somehow agreed among yourself, how will it be arranged?
Alena Trushina : Alexander came up with the planet itself and how she looks, how it works. After that, Diana and I fantasized that we would fly to this planet on a starship. So, the planet is mostly of it.
Tamara Lyalenkova : The masculine principle, it should be noted.
Alexander Chistov : I gave them the laws of the universe in which they have already entered their work. There are simply things that obey the laws, but there are that do not obey. If your planet does not have a change in day and night, accordingly, certain conditions arise that will literally affect everything - it is always hot on one side, it is always cold and night.

Tamara Lyalenkova : The white canvases in which people are wrapped on your planet at birth and when they die, this is also in Orthodox iconography. There is a reference, really?
Alexander Chistov : In a certain way, of course, this is due. In general, the process of dressing, say, wearing a white canvas is related to many things. We all know about the Turin raincoat, in which the body of Jesus was wrapped, as the biblical story testifies. In the culture of our tribe, this is the center of their society, everything is built around the quality of cotton and its cultivation.
Tamara Lyalenkova : But this is our modern logic. Do you assume that she will continue to work?
Svetlana Taylor : As for the project “About the Future”, how we started it, indeed, the practice of false memories and feelings that constantly correspond in history were based on. Of course, there are unshakable things, after the Second World War they remain in the dominant, but in general we live in a rather mobile world, where unexpected historical turns occur every day. The same event can be covered in completely different ways.
Of course, culture, if we are talking about a certain imaginary future, becomes one of the central components. And the planet Giliador with three climatic zones, with disappeared animals,
The practice of false memories that constantly correspond
With strange vegetation, a reflection on Christian civilization can be a reflection, as well as a certain Earth of Nuremberg, which is a symbol of war and a symbol of the Apocalypse, another work is based. It exists within the framework of weak affect: 12 images in the reverse order are chewing an apple, as if they were pushing it again into the mouth. The author, Olga Alexandrova, is not the first job where she addresses the topic of eating. And in this context, the land from Nuremberg, a specific monument mounted in the surface - is, of course, a symbol of the Second World War, a symbol of the Holocaust. That is, students take it wider - from original sin to the Nuremberg process. Such is their option of talking about the future.
Tamara Lyalenkova : Indeed, at the exhibition there are a lot of works that were sent to the past, showed the future through the past. For example, the Khrushchev -Pension is a bright future placed in the space of modernity. And there is a certain irony in this.
Svetlana Taylor : There is a pure irony: a rough panel, poorly made of cardboard. On the eve of the spring, a list of all those who move from the five-story buildings that will be demolished was announced. But, besides irony, there is great sadness. Formally, this is such a burial ground, a memorial complex. And it all began ... a beautiful project "Thaw", a bright future.
Tamara Lyalenkova : It seemed to me that in some works the future is considered as the funeral of the past. "Falcon egg" Evgenia Demina, for example.
Evgenia Demina : My method can be compared with how a maniac collects newspapers, cuts out certain words or letters from there and makes a message from them. The audio unit of this work is Masop from the two plays of Harold Pinter and the article in the newspaper Vedomosti "What is the Falcon of the Sokola" in 2013. The visual part of the installation represents six catwalks with steps covered with red carpet, according to the number of floors of a falcon egg. On each catwalk there are headphones, which act as an invitation, bait, so that the look wants to cross a certain invisible line and play a role. Rising on
Everything has already happened at once, we just haven't understood yet
Steps, it becomes part of the performance and finds himself in another performance, which in turn consists of several performances mixed with each other, who have lost their connection with the original meanings and trying to create new ones. Despite the fact that there are a lot of borrowings, it is like in alchemy - when you find the ingredients and begin to combine them in order to get the desired result at the output, the very notorious gold.
Formally, spectators who look can be divided into two species - those who see the gallows and a scaffold in this, and those who do not notice them until you tell them about it. Plus, of course, different behavior. Someone immediately climbed onto the sixth step, ran fearlessly, and someone remained on the lower ones, afraid to go upstairs, because it was still a scene.
As for the future, I have a favorite phrase: everything has already happened at once. We simply have not noticed yet, because in the brain we have a mechanism that creates the illusions of the duration of time and space. And, in fact, everything has already happened at once. We just have not yet understood.
Tamara Lyalenkova : Sasha, what became the starting point in the thought of the future? Maybe some of your technical or scientific knowledge? Or was it an unbridled fantasy?
Alexander Chistov : The starting point, of course, was the present, after all, after all, you need to push off. And a tribe, similar to what I came up with, exists now. Why the work speaks about the future. Because there are still peoples who are very far from us in their development, they live in the same way as my tribe - they collect, weave, collect, and weave. Northern peoples, for example. Why should they live there? But they continue, because their memories, which are not their memories at all, but the memories of their society, genetic memory, (the very false memories), chained them to the ice in the Far North, behind the polar circle.
Tamara Lyalenkova : Svetlana, and what did the false memories of other students have chained? Maybe there are some common chains that hold the generation?
Svetlana Taylor : Now, it seems to me, you can greatly degrade in six months, but you can turn into something completely unheard of in the same six months. Here is the issue of fluctuations in information waves, how you know how to work with them. This is common.
