Three alleged followers of Jehovah's Witnesses were detained in the city of Elizovo, Kamchatka Territory. This was reported on the website of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.
A 41-year-old man, his 40-year-old wife and their 71-year-old friend are suspected of organizing the activities of a banned religious association (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).
Riot police detained the suspects and conducted searches in their apartments, as well as in the houses of other alleged Jehovah's Witnesses. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized “information carriers,” handwritten notes and printed materials recognized as extremist.
UPD August 22 As reported on the website of the regional department of the Investigative Committee, the man was charged. The court took him into custody. The women were released on their own recognizance.
