The Russian Argentinean Tango Championship was first won by Russians

Moscow dancers Dmitry Vasin and Sagdiana Khamzin became world champions in 2018 in Argentinean tango in Buenos Aires.

As Interfax reports, they won the championship in the category of stage tango.

This is the first success of this level of Russian dancers at the World Tango World Cup. Usually, Argentine dancers won the championship.

Vasin and Hamzin also received a prize of spectator sympathies, which was awarded after voting on the Internet. They were chosen by a third of all those who voted.

Last year, Vasin and Khamzin became fourth in the standings, and before that they became fifth twice. They also twice were awarded the titles of "Best Foreign couple in the world."

Another Russian couple Dmitry Kuznetsov and Olga Nikolaeva at the current tournament became fifth.
