Law enforcement officers detained Alexei Navalny at the entrance to his house.

The politician, his press secretary Kira Yarmysh said, was taken to the Danilovsky police station.

The reason for Navalny's detention is still unknown. in an interview with Ekho Moskvy Ivan Zhdanov, a lawyer with the Anti-Corruption Foundation, said : “It is obvious that this is connected with a public event scheduled for September 9, with the filing of a notice to hold it.”

The defenders, as of 17:00 Moscow time, cannot get into the police department , where Navalny was brought, because of the “Fortress” plan allegedly introduced in the department, in which outsiders are not allowed into the building.

In May, Alexei Navalny received 30 days of administrative arrest for the action “He is not our tsar”, timed to coincide with the fourth inauguration of Vladimir Putin. The politician was released in mid-June.
