Navalny was given 30 days of arrest for the January protest

The Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested politician Alexei Navalny for 30 days for actions in support of the “voter strike” that took place on January 28, a Mediazona correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The oppositionist was found guilty under Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code (repeated violation of the rules of public events). The protocol for the action in support of the “voter strike” was drawn up on January 31. However, the court returned the case materials to the police.

Navalny was detained on August 25 at the entrance of his house and taken to the Danilovsky police station. Later, the politician was taken away by ambulance from the police with a suspected fracture of the little finger of his left hand. The oppositionist's press secretary suggested that Navalny could have been injured when he was detained by five riot police officers. When the politician was examined by a doctor, he was again taken to the police station and left there overnight.

As Navalny himself wrote on his blog, the security forces said that after the action the police “were looking for him, but could not find him.”
