Channel opposed the transformation of Siberia into a "raw material appendage"

The plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation Sergey Avayolo was against the division of Siberia into three "economic macro -regions". He announced damage to the regions in favor of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation proposed the next changes to the "Strategy of Spatial Development". Officials offer to formally allocate 14 economic macro -regions, which, however, will not be administrative units. The borders of the federal districts will remain the same, writes Kommersant on August 27.

In the Siberian Federal District, three macro-regions are proposed-the South Siberian, Yenisei and Baikal. “It is assumed that such a division will ensure the best conditions for interregional interaction,” the publication notes.

The draft document will be made to the government in September. Sergey Avayolo spoke out against the division of Siberia into three macro -regions. “The integration of interregional processes will be weakened, the problems of the development of the Siberian regions will be strengthened, and so quite complex, but unified for all subjects of the district, the conditions of management and life,” the deputy prime minister Vitaly Mutko says in his appeal.

“If in 1998 the district police department per capita was 4.9%less than the Central Russian, then in 2016 - already by 22%,” added the midday. The incomes of the population are lower by a quarter than the average in Russia, and the prices for products and housing and communal services are higher. “The centers of economic growth proposed for the Siberian Federal District fix the threat of turning Siberia into a raw materials appendage,” he said.

The official suggested recalling the “long-over-over” issue of the “rational territorial use of rent”, because the capital is concentrated in Moscow and St. Petersburg “to the detriment of the proclaimed policy of the uniform development of the regions”.
