Russian Defense Ministry: White Helmets Delivered Chemical Weapons to Idlib for Provocation

Representatives of the White Helmets delivered chemical weapons to a warehouse in Idlib province used by the Ahrar al-Sham group, said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Alexei Tsygankov.

After this, according to Russian military data, the cargo was transported to the southern part of the province for the future staging of the use of chemical weapons by government forces.

• On August 26, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it was preparing to stage a chemical attack in Idlib. According to the department, the United States is using it as a pretext for a new strike on Syrian government facilities.
• In early April, the White Helmets claimed that Bashar al-Assad's air force had carried out a chemical attack in a Damascus suburb, killing dozens of civilians. The US responded with a series of airstrikes on Syrian military bases. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that the attack had been staged.
