The court in Yaroslavl arrested two more employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) accused of beating prisoners in the Yaroslavl colony No. 1. Dmitry Nikitenko and Sardor Ziyabov were sent to custody until September 20, reports Portal 76.ru.
Employees of the Yaroslavl colony No. 8 were detained on August 29. The investigation believes that Nikitenko and Ziyabov are involved in the beating of convicts in November 2016, which fell on a video published by the New Gazeta. The prisoner Evgeny Makarov, who was present at a court meeting in the video, said that he was abused by IK-8 from Nikitenko, despite state defense.
In addition to Makarov, in the case of torture in the Yaroslavl colony, two more victims may appear. This was reported to "Interfax" lawyer of the Public Verdict Foundation Irina Biryukova.
In July, the New Gazeta unveiled a video of the beating of prisoner Evgeny Makarov in the Yaroslavl colony IK-1 received by human rights activists. After the video publication, 12 employees of the correctional institution were arrested, and the Federal Penitentiary Service promised that she would check all cases of violence in colonies and in jail.
