In the winter of 1923, in Alas, Sasil of the Sysyyy of the Amginsky ulus, they fought with each other. Their confrontation in Yakutia was called the last siege in the history of the Civil War. These events with the participation of Pepelyaev and Stripes became widely known after the publication of the documentary novel by Leonid Yuzefovich “Winter Road” in 2015, which received the main literary prizes of Russia “National Bestseller” and “Big Book”.
According to Yuzefovich, in the novel he, first of all, wrote the story of people during the Civil War, the meaninglessness of bloody clashes between these people ... both Pepelyaev and Strod are people of left beliefs. Strod could well have the Belykh, and Pepelyaev, on the contrary, was red, ”Yuzefovich believes. In addition, the Yakut siege, in his opinion, is an example of how “you can maintain nobility in the inhuman conditions of the war among the Yakut snow ... And therefore, when Pepelyaev and Strod will meet in the courtroom in 24, everyone will express respect to another, and Strod will try to alleviate Pepelyaev’s fate in every way,” the writer notes.
Later, faced with the horrors of collectivization, Ivan Strod left the party and threatened to kill Stalin. And in 1937 he was arrested, charged under the article 58 - "Participation in the Anti -Soviet Terrorist Organization." On August 19, 1937 he was sentenced to the highest degree of punishment. Then the verdict was softened - 10 years of imprisonment, but Anatoly Pepelyaev will spend 13 years in prison. In August 1937, Pepelyaev was arrested a second time and delivered to Novosibirsk, where he was charged with creating a counter -revolutionary organization.
