Passing in the case of the Seventh Studio Sofya Apfelbaum extended house arrest

The Moscow Basmanny Court on Friday extended until October 19 the house arrest of the director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT) Sofia Apfelbaum, held in the Seventh Studio case, RIA Novosti reports.

The decision was announced by the judge Elena Lenskaya. The investigator motivated his petition that the director of Ramt could hide, and her fault "is confirmed by the testimony of witnesses, confrontation, financial documents and other evidence."

The Investigative Committee is afraid that the Apfelbaum at large can come into contact with another person who fled abroad - producer Ekaterina Voronova.

The Apfelbaum itself noted that the exactly the same arguments were given against the ex-director of the Gogol-Center of Alexei Malobrodsky. However, "he was released on the passage and not to leave, and nothing terrible happens," she emphasized.

"I have no residence [abroad], I have a passport selected for me. I plan to prove my innocence in court," added Director Ramt.

According to the investigation, the director Kirill Serebrennikov and other defendants stole 133 out of 214 million rubles allocated in 2011-2014 to the “Seventh Studio” for the development and popularization of modern art of Russia as part of the Platform project.

The guilt of the Apfelbaum, according to investigators, is that it, then led by the Department of State Support of Art to the Ministry of Culture, "not only did not take any measures, but, on the contrary, extended financing."

On Friday, it also became known that the preliminary investigation in the case of fraud in the Seventh Studio was extended until October 19.

Recall, on August 16, the Moscow City Court extended until September 19 the term of home arrest to the artistic director of the Gogol Center Kirill Serebrennikov.
