Sheremetyevo will stop announcing the names of late passengers

Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport will no longer announce the names of late passengers. This decision was made due to the need to comply with the requirements of the law “On Personal Data,” the airport’s press service reported.

“Now the announcers of the Sheremetyevo information service, when notifying late passengers, use a general reminder about the need to board urgently, indicating the flight, but without indicating the name of a specific person,” the message says.

It is emphasized that the changes apply to passengers of all airlines and flight classes. The airport press service reminded that boarding for all flights ends strictly 20 minutes before departure.

There are now only nine airports in the world with five stars from Skytrax, and only one in Europe

Earlier, First Deputy General Director of Sheremetyevo Andrei Nikulin told Vedomosti that the airport wants to receive the highest rating for quality of service. In October, the British agency Skytrax will conduct a rating of Sheremetyevo, and the airport is following the agency's recommendations to assign the highest rating - five stars. Investments in implementing the recommendations will amount to about 500 million rubles.

Sheremetyevo International Airport is the largest Russian airport in terms of passenger and cargo traffic, takeoff and landing operations and the area of the airport complex. The Sheremetyevo route network includes more than 200 destinations. In 2017, the airport served more than 40 million passengers, which is 17.8% higher than in 2016.
