The funeral of the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko took place in Donetsk

In the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, the head of the republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, was buried with military honors at the Donetsk Sea cemetery in the Leninsky district of Donetsk, reports . TASS

Earlier, a farewell ceremony was held in the building of the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solovyanenko, after which a funeral procession took place along the main street of Donetsk, Artem Street.

Exact figures on the number of participants in the ceremony are unknown. Thus, a representative of the administration of Donetsk told while according to TASS refers the correspondent of the Donetsk News Agency, to which RIA about 120 thousand participants in the farewell , , about 200 thousand people took part in the procession.

Earlier, on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the self-proclaimed DPR , it was reported that the ceremony would be attended by "delegations from 4 countries" - the Lugansk People's Republic, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Russia.

From Russia came the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov, State Duma deputies Natalya Poklonskaya and Andrey Kozenko (both from United Russia), a member of the Federation Council from Crimea Olga Kovitidi and the head of the Night Wolves motorcycle club Alexander Zaldostanov.

The death of the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, became known on the evening of August 31. As a result of the explosion, the Minister of Taxes and Duties of the DPR Alexander Timofeev (Tashkent) was wounded, at the moment his life is not in danger. In total, according to the acting head of the republic, Dmitry Trapeznikov, 11 people were injured in the incident.

Interfax, citing a source, reported that “Ukrainian saboteurs” had been detained on suspicion of murder. The Security Service of Ukraine stated that the Ukrainian special services had nothing to do with the incident. The DPR called the incident a terrorist attack. The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under an article on an act of international terrorism that resulted in the death of a person (part 3 of article 361 of the Criminal Code).

According to DPR adviser Alexander Kazakov, a shellless explosive device was planted over the door inside the Separ cafe, where Zakharchenko was killed, on the eve of the incident. The explosion occurred at the moment when Zakharchenko and the security guard entered the cafe - both died.
