The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation wants to control foreign HIV programs

The Ministry of Justice of Russia proposes to ban non -profit organizations with foreign participation to fight HIV without the permission of the Russian authorities. The corresponding document is posted on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

According to the bill, the department wants such NPOs to first submit to the Russian state bodies of programs and other documents on the implementation of measures aimed at the prevention of HIV infection. Notifications will be considered within a month, after which the program will either be agreed or banned. If after the ban, the organization continues to work, it, in accordance with the initiative of the Ministry of Justice, can be eliminated.

Over the past five years, the total number of officially registered HIV-infected people doubled in Russia and has reached more than one million people.

In Moscow, according to data published in the annual statistical collection of the Ministry of Health of Russia, in 2017 the number of cases of infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has increased by 20 percent .
