Beat Weekend will cover 15 cities in Russia

In late September - early October throughout Russia, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, the International Documentary Film Film Festival of Music and New Culture Beat Weekend will present the main hits of the Moscow Beat Film Festival 2018.

The regional version of Beat Film Festival will come to 15 cities this year, including Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Samara, Rostov, Voronezh, Minsk and Kaliningrad.

The main program of the festival has six films about the most relevant heroes and trends of modern culture:

• “Skate Kitchen” is a story about the same New York gang of the Skateboard girls who rush through the streets of New York, conquer their place in the skate parks and prove that they can ride no worse than the guys;
• “Baskia: an explosion of reality” , shot by his wife and muse, Jim Jarmusha Sarah Driver, about the artist Jean-Michel Baskia on the eve of his universal recognition and commercial success, the street art and bohemia of the New York of the Rubezh of the 70s and the 80s;
• “Matanga/ MAYA/ MIA ” Steve Lavridge is the story of a girl from Sri Lanka, who has traveled from the London ghetto to the superstar, known as Mia ;

• “Social animals” of Jonathan Green - a study of the chamber -centric youth culture, the power and popularity in which is built around Instagram accounts.

In addition to the film scabs on Beat Weekend, discussions with city cultural heroes and parties dedicated to films will be held. For the first time in the formation of a parallel program, local cultural institutions and experts take an active part, and it itself is integrated into the city cultural space.

The premiere of the film “Baskia: Explosion of Reality” in Yekaterinburg will continue to discuss the local street art scene, in Krasnoyarsk, street artists and co-curator of the Krasnoyarsk Biennale will discuss the migration of Russian street art in the gallery space, in Samara the art critic will give a lecture on the significance of the figure of Jean-Michel Baskia for contemporary art, after show The film “Word is the Law” in Yekaterinburg will be a discussion with representatives of different generations of hip-hop about important milestones in the development of the genre in the Urals, and meetings with local top bloggers will be timed to the shows of “social animals”, which will share their own experience in creating a personal brand and working with it in the Instagram Generation Era.
