In St. Petersburg, a girl with a disability, detained on September 9, was arrested for 13 days

The Petrograd court of St. Petersburg arrested Victoria Boikova for 13 days, who was detained on September 9 for protests against raising the retirement age. The girl was assigned the 3rd disability group. Public defender Maria Malysheva told OVD-Info about this.

According to the lawyer, the girl was convicted for participating in an “unauthorized” meeting, which caused interference with the functioning of vital facilities, transport or social infrastructure, communications, the movement of pedestrians and vehicles (part 6.1 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The court decision indicated that the girl was assigned the 3rd disability group.

Boikova is brought to administrative responsibility for the first time and participates in this kind of action for the first time. Malysheva notes that the girl did not have a lawyer during the trial.

“The decision of the court is clearly not related to any of her active role in the protest movement in general and in this rally in particular. She didn't hold any banner or do anything like that. The protocol was carbon-copied, like hundreds of similar other protocols,” Malysheva said.

After Boikova was arrested, she was first sent to a special detention center. But from there, due to disability, they were taken to the Alexander Hospital. However, she was again transferred from the hospital to the special detention center, from there back to the hospital and then back to the special detention center, where she is now.

Malysheva will draw up a complaint against the arrest of the girl. The appeal in her case will take place on 13 September.

• On September 9, protests were held in many Russian cities against raising the retirement age. According to the OVD-Info project, more than a thousand people were detained on them. Of these, more than 623 people are in St. Petersburg.
