The mayor's office of Tomsk refused to approve a rally against the construction of a waste sorting plant within the city. It is reported by Siberia. Realii” with reference to the representative of the initiative group Maxim Zabelin.
In the refusal, officials referred to the fact that the site requested by the organizers is not municipal, but belongs to an agricultural college. It was also not possible to hold an action in Hyde Park, as another event is taking place there. The activists were asked to resubmit the notification and wait their turn. The organizers believe that the action was not agreed on for a "spurious reason."
“We asked for a place in our microdistrict, next to which the plant will be built. Not in the city center, not on the main square. Just a regular parking lot next to the college so the locals can get out. According to all city and town planning maps and norms, this is the territory of the municipality. But officials say otherwise. We were offered an alternative in some square, which we, the residents, do not know about. It’s just a forest there, ”Zabelin told the publication.
Activists began collecting signatures to appeal to the president. They already sent one letter, but at that time they received an answer that there were not enough documents.
