
The Council of the European Union extended the validity of personal sanctions imposed for Russia's aggression against Ukraine, for the next six months - until March 15, 2019. This was reported on the website of the EU Council.
"The assessment of the situation does not give grounds for changing the sanctions regime," the release notes.
Today, personal sanctions of the EU have been introduced against 155 individuals and 44 legal entities. Six months ago, there were 150 personalities and 38 enterprises on the list. However, in May, five Russian occupation officials involved in organizing the elections of the President of Russia in the annexed Crimea and Sevastopol, and in July, six Russian companies , including three structures of the oligarch Arkady Rotenberg, participating in the construction of the Crimean bridge.
In addition to this, two more sanctions package had been adopted earlier. Sectoral sanctions for aggression in the east of Ukraine, which Russian banks and oil and gas companies twice unsuccessfully tried to challenge in the European court in Luxembourg, were extended until January 31 next year, and sanctions for the annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol - until June 23 .
